ANNOUNCEMENTS
Report Cards/Powerschool
PowerSchool access for parents and students is now disabled through January 29th while staff work to input grades and any necessary comments for the 1st semester of learning. If parents or students have any questions regarding an assignment or class that they cannot access on powerschool, they will be encouraged to contact the teacher directly. Semester 1 report cards will be emailed directly to parents the week of January 30th. Thank you.
Drop Off & Pick Up Procedures
A reminder that when dropping your students off for school, drop off should only occur in the drop off line in front of the main entrance. Dropping off in any other area is prohibited for child safety. Any questions can be directed to Officer Amanda Hogg at amanda.hogg@falmouthschools.org.
When picking up students during the school day, please send your child to school with a note stating the time you will be picking them up. Your child will be responsible for giving the note to the teacher at the start of the block when dismissal will occur. This allows your student to leave the classroom at the designated time without the office calling and disrupting the teacher or remaining students. Parents/caregivers will still need to come into the office to sign the child out. Any questions, please email Kim Stewart at kim.stewart@falmouthschools.org.
Lost and Found
Our lost and found has gained numerous items recently. Please ask your child to look through the lost and found at lunch time for any misplaced items. Parents can also look through the lost and found after school hours, between 2:30-3:30 pm. The lost and found is located in the cafe on the left side of the stage area. If you have further questions, please email Kim Stewart at kim.stewart@falmouthschools.org.
Cell Phone Policy Reminder
Students should not be using their cell phones during the school day. This includes watch devices linked to a cell phone. Phones should be turned off and stored in a student's locker for the school day. We ask parents/caregivers to refrain from texting your child during the school day. If you need to get a message to your child during the day, you can call the main office and we will relay the information to your child. Further, if your child needs to reach you during the school day, there is a phone located in the office for their use. Thank you for your help with this policy.

Nurse's Notes
Stock up on your COVID tests for the holidays!
Public Health trends show us that COVID cases spike after we gather for school vacations and holiday seasons. It's important to have COVID-19 tests on hand to determine if we have COVID-19 and to prevent spread to others. (It's amazing how many tests you can go through if you have a COVID positive case in your home!) The Biden administration is offering another way for households in all states to order 4 free COVID tests. I believe that this is a one time opportunity. Spread the word to relatives or friends in other states about this information.
Also, before you throw out any "expired" tests, check to see if your COVID-19 tests' expiration dates have been extended.
Please remember:
- Test for COVID before school if you have a fever (100.4 and over) , or sore throat, or cough. If you have a fever you must be fever free for 24 hrs, without antipyretics, before returning to school.
- Wearing a mask if you are still clearing an illness is considered best practice.
Thanks for helping to keep FMS as healthy as possible!

A Friendly Reminder...regarding perfumes, colognes, body sprays, and essential oils. Many staff members and students have allergies and sensitivities to these products causing difficulties with breathing and irritations to eyes and nose. Please be mindful of others at FMS and refrain from using perfumes, colognes, strong body sprays, or essential oils. Of note, this reminder does not apply to deodorant.....we encourage the use of that!

Middle School Theatre
Welcome to the beginning of the Middle School Theatre Season! EVERYONE is welcome to sign-up/audition for Middle School Theatre this October/November! This is our fall production and includes 6th, 7th and 8th graders. ALMOST all rehearsals are right after school and students will be able to ride the late bus home. There are two or three rehearsals when the students get to go to the High School to rehearse in the Theatre for their performances – these rehearsals will require parent pick-up (carpooling is a GREAT idea!). Students will get a rehearsal schedule at sign-ups and be able to go over it with their families to check for conflicts. IF a student can meet the rehearsal schedule (especially the last week before performance) then they can be on stage. There ARE a couple of mandatory rehearsals at the end so we need to make sure the entire cast can be there for those.
Come join in this wonderful Middle School tradition bringing MS students to the stage for over 25 years! Sign-ups will be in the cafetorium right after school on Tuesday October 18th - students may go home on the late bus. Rehearsals begin on Thursday October 20th with our production on Tuesday November 15th. See you there - everyone is welcome! - Dede Waite, Theatre Director

Important message regarding School Zone Speeds
The flashing lights that indicate a 15 mph zone on Woodville Road through the school campus are active until 4:00pm. Recently, there has been an increase in the number of vehicles traveling over 30 miles an hour through this zone while school is still in session. Please keep this in mind when traveling through the campus prior to 4:00pm.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Tickets on sale for CHICAGO - Teen Edition!
Tickets are on sale now for the first production of the season at The Theatre Company at Falmouth High School. CHICAGO - Teen Edition opens October 28. Get your tickets here.
Chicago is the longest-running American musical in Broadway history and the second longest-running Broadway production ever. In the Roaring Twenties, aspiring chorus girl Roxie Hart and fading vaudeville star Velma Kelly each face trial for murder. Both as cynical as they are cunning, the two women compete for the services of shady lawyer Billy Flynn, who promises to make them media celebrities and win them acquittals. With its killer score and knock-’em-dead dance numbers, this incredibly fun show packs some serious heat.
Lunch Heroes
Do you enjoy cooking in a fast-paced, professional kitchen? Ever wonder how our school nutrition Lunch Heroes feed hundreds of students everyday in a single bound? Join the fun and passionate world of the Falmouth School Nutrition Program. Becoming a kitchen sub is a great way to help our students, our wonderful kitchen staff, and get your foot in the door for a career in school nutrition. Hours are flexible and variable.

Dental Clinic Opportunity - All Falmouth Schools
A dental program called Mainely Teeth will be providing dental care (routine care and screenings, preventive services, and simple dental treatments) on October 19th-21st, 2022, to children who do not otherwise have a dental home. Services provided are available to students with MaineCare, or students that are uninsured and not established with a dentist. If your student is seeing a dentist regularly, they would not need or qualify for these services. However, if you are having a hard time getting into the community dental clinic or their dentist is no longer accepting MaineCare, Mainely Teeth can see them. If your student does not have MaineCare, these services will be provided for free after a brief financial screening over the phone. Registration and consent forms must be returned by Thursday, 10/6/22. Please read and complete the registration packet or contact your student’s school nurse if you would like us to send you a paper copy.
