Arts
Music
All students Grades 6-8 participate in general music, band, and/or chorus throughout the school year.
Visit the FMS Music Department on Instagram.
Chorus
The FMS chorus rehearses in school for Fall, Winter, and Spring concerts. The group also does regional competitions at the Great East Festival every other year and is often invited to perform the national anthem at sporting events. Most recently at the Portland Seadogs and the Harlem Globetrotters. Chorus students may also opt to participate in an extracurricular a cappella group that practices two mornings a week.
Band
Band opportunities include Concert Band, Jazz Band, and the Iron Twinkies Jazz Band. Each group practices during and before school to prepare for two school concerts a year as well as regional and state competitions.
Theater
FMS Theater produces musical and non-musical theater productions throughout the year.
FMS Musical Theater puts on a 60 minute Jr. Title Show once a year. In years ending in odd numbers, a large scale Disney show featuring students from grades 6-8 is produced. In years ending in even numbers, the show is a smaller 8th grade feature.
Visual Arts
At Falmouth Middle School students have Visual Art classes as part of their Unified Arts schedule. They will be introduced to new materials and vocabulary. We have a project based curriculum that will encourage exploration, control, creativity, and discovery. Projects include the use of clay, printmaking, drawing techniques, painting, and mixed media.
Visit the Falmouth Middle School website to learn more about current class projects and see examples of student artwork.
